Situation Report: Vehicle Accident on Highway 82 West of Tunnel

At 0200 AM on 10 July 2011, High Rolls Fire was dispatched for a vehicle accident slightly West of the Tunnel Overlook. Responding units found a single vehicle which had struck the side of the stone cliff running alongside the highway. Traffic was closed for a short while as the vehicle was removed and the lanes cleared. No information on injuries is available at this time.

June wrap-up...

With the culmination of the New Mexico fire season, June was a busy month for us. We logged a total of 28 calls for service, many being calls to assist at large wildfires throughout the region. As a result, It was decided to form a Wildland Task Force to better respond to forest and wildfires, in coordination with Otero County and the US Forest Service.
